Here is a run down of the great things happening in 3B:
* I have two students wrapping up their winter MAPs assessments today and then I can honestly say that we are done with our major assessments until March. Students work really hard on both their MAPs and their FAST assessments and I saw a lot of growth!!! Keep it up 3B! Parents will receive information about their child's scores at conferences in February.
* Writing - We are currently working with fiction stories with the focus of adding and punctuating dialogue as well as building our stories with details and focusing on one idea.
* Literacy- We recently started a new theme in Lead 21 and are focusing on paraphrasing, inflected endings of /er/ and /or/, and questioning. We are also working towards starting our first book clubs in the next few weeks, which will be great! (Look for information soon about book clubs as students will have the responsibility of reading at home for their book club assignments.)
* Science - Students are loving our unit on Simple Machines. So far, we have learned about a lever and wheel/axle. With our learning, students are working on creating a Keynote Presentation to share with their parents at conferences.
* Math - As mentioned before, we are working through various lessons to build a deeper understanding of multiplication and division. Keep working on multiplication facts at home to build the students recall of his/her facts.
