While I will be sharing lots more throughout the year, I wanted to make a quick post to share a video I showed the students. It is a video by Kid President, one of my favorite people who sends powerful messages to students in a fun and humorous way. It is a super video to kick off the school year not only for students but teachers as well.
After watching the video, we discussed the message from Kid President as well as talked about what 3rd graders should be like. The students selected their own thoughts and wrote them on pieces of paper that I stapled to a bulletin board. The board only had the word "be" on it to begin with. Here are some of the ideas the students wrote.
Tomorrow I will be using this wall to engage students in a discussion about being a "bucket filler" as well as asking them what they would like our classroom to look like and be like. I wanted to share their ideas from today as I was impressed!
